Rush Rink Officially Opened with Help from the DC Stars

During the summer, a few of our team members helped rebuild Rush Rink, an outdoor street hockey space behind Watkins Elementary on D St. SE in Washington, DC. One of the team hockey moms wrote a story about Rush rink and its significance to the hockey development of several of our players. You can read that story here.

DC Stars Players Invited to the Opening

The Parks Department, Monumental Sports and the other supporters officially opened the park in November. DC Stars seniors Ian and Julien, who were among the DC Stars volunteers in the summer, were on hand for the grand opening. The event was attended by officials from the Washington Capitals, the city, other supporters and area school kids. Alongside Stanley Cup winning Devante Smith-Pelley, the DC Stars boys spent time after the ribbon cutting teaching the elementary students how to play hockey.

Recognition the team's support for the community and the sport

In consideration of the DC Stars community engagement, the Revada Foundation of the Logan Family, the group that spearheaded the Rush Rink rebuild, made a $10,000 contribution to our team’s general fund and placed a sign at the rink in recognition of our support. The DC Stars is grateful to the Revada Foundation for supporting our efforts to bring the thrill of high school hockey to more student athletes in the district.
