DC Stars Skate on NHL Ice

The annual DC Stars Red vs White intrasquad scrimmage took place on November 15th. Over 130 team members, family, friends and DC Stars supports enjoyed a pre-game match-up between the Washington Capitals and the New Jersey Devils. Unfortunately, the Capitals lost in a shoot-out.

THEN THE REAL GAME BEGAN

After the pre-game, the DC Stars headed to the locker room while our fans relocated to seats behind the team benches. Then, the real contest of the night began.

Coach Creek and Coach Mike had held an internal draft earlier in the day to select their squads. Ian Cox opened the scoring early for Coach Creek's Team White with a shot from the left circle. Another Team White goal minutes later put Coach Mike's Team Red on the edge. Team Red, however, rose to meet the challenge. Two goals from freshman forward Bobby Joachim and a goal from Junior Cole Rosenberg brought the squad back. A goal by Assistant Captain Kai Handy-Kanegis playing for White, kept the final score locked at three.

EVERYONE WINS

As has become custom, for the third year in a row, the Red vs White scrimmage ended in a tie. Judging by the miles of smiles on the players and fans, everyone, except the Capitals, were winners that night.

Big to Harry's dad and the Monumental Sports organization for open the NHL ice and supporting the DC Star's program.
