The JV Squad Defeat Silver Spring in the First Round of the Playoffs

Earlier in the regular season Silver Spring out scored the DC Stars JV squad three to two. The playoffs, however, tell a different tale. The Junior Varsity Squad came out of the locker room ready to score in the win or go home game. Adrian Wiener opened the score sheet at the fourteen-minute mark in the first period off of an assist by Oliver York and Nat Schron. Harry Fishman chalked up a goal one minute later. Before the period ended, Wiener found the back of the net for a second time giving the Stars a three to nothing lead before Silver Spring got on the board. The Stars three to one lead lasted until Silver Spring added another goal midway through the second.

DC fought through relentless pressure from the Maryland team and overcame a slew of penalties to keep the lead late into the final period. With two and a half minutes to play, Theo Goldman cemented the victory with a breakaway goal. One minute later Oliver York added an exclamation point to the score with an empty netter and his second goal of the night.

JV has a long break and plenty of practice time before taking on Upper Montgomery on February 20th.
