What a game to remember!

Period One: An Energetic Start
Our boys got out to a quick start, setting the tone for the game from the jump. Stars’ defense shut down opportunities for RAM, and our forwards got pucks deep and bodies in front of the net at a strong pace. With quick movement and passing, we pulled out to an early 1-0 lead in the first period after captain Walter Bernstein sent a pass to the crease. With chaos at the net, Sophomore Gabe Schon quickly netted our first goal before the goalie could react. From that point, the game’s pace slowed. RAM started pouring on more pressure, but strong defense kept us up one goal going into the second period.
Periods Two and Three: Competitive and Entertaining
Roughly midway through the period, RAM held the puck in our zone, running our defense out of position and capitalizing on an open slot to tie the game at one goal apiece. Following the equalizer, the two teams played out a very competitive, and entertaining, period and a half of hockey, with notable defensive stops and offensive opportunities for both sides. Still, the clock wound down on a 1-1 game, leaving some to think the contest would end in a tie. But no! That was when history stepped in and our captain stepped up.
A Memorable OT Win
The two teams faced off for a three-on-three overtime to decide the game. The five-minute running clock gave the Stars only a short time to put the game away. As it turned out, those three hundred seconds were sufficient. With only one minute and a half remaining, our skaters drew a penalty that gained us a four-on-three advantage. After the face-off win, a blocked shot from the point sent the puck ricocheting back to our end. Walter Bernstein hustled back to retrieve the puck. Beating his man to the puck and skating from our blue line, Bernstein quickly entered the offensive zone, with one man to beat. After a nice deke move to the outside (some might call it filthy) he found himself under his defender mere feet from the crease. With a flick of his wrist, Bernstein’s shot went through the five-hole to the back of the net. The celebration commenced!
Follow Along as Aim to Build on the Success
After that exciting victory, the DC Stars Varsity improve our season record to 3-1. We look to extend our winning streak to four on Monday when we take on Richard Montgomery.
